Welcome to the Moores School of Music Preparatory & Continuing Studies Department! I’m thrilled to be part of this program, which ensures community-wide access to quality arts instruction. I believe that music participation has a lifelong impact on individuals, and that appreciation of the arts is a powerful, shared gift to be enjoyed throughout our greater society.
Since its inception in 1998, PCS has fostered musical excellence in the greater Houston community through private instruction and group classes, professional development courses, and community outreach initiatives. PCS is a non-credit, non-degree granting program that serves hundreds of students, of all ages and skill levels, every year. Students study and perform at the Moores School of Music and throughout the city. Our highly skilled instructors include Moores School of Music Faculty and graduate students, internationally known guest artists and clinicians, as well as area specialists.
PCS is also proud to offer outreach music classes, which provide free music instruction to students at the Third Ward Head Start Program, University of Houston Child Care Center, and Yellowstone Academy. We are also host the annual summer Kodály Institute of Houston certification program, and this summer we are thrilled to launch two new initiatives: Children’s Kodály Choir Camp – a camp where young singers will have the opportunity to improve their vocal and musicianship skills and learn quality choral music using Kodály choral techniques; and Girls Rock Camp Houston – a one-week summer day camp of music and art-based workshops for girls aged 8-18.
