This workshop will focus on African American songs and singing games as well as how they can be used in the classroom. Many of the singing games will be from the repertoire of Bessie Jones, folk singer from the Georgia Sea Islands. You will see how this music reflects the African music aesthetic yet also incorporates elements from the Anglo tradition .
